| Wake me up, when September ends! |
Well, I think I've had about 10 hours sleep since Wednesday, without exaggeration. I donno what's goin on, I just can't sleep, yet I've still got stacks of energy! Well, not stacks, but nice sporadic bursts of it... It's 6 in the bejeesus morning and I'm updating my blog for feck sake. I think I need my head examined! But never mind, I'm feeling good regardless. And I've been having a pretty fun week, with radio interviews, gigs, good spell of health, and a birthday celebration thrown in for good measure. :) Umm hmmm... 28 years of ancient. Now THAT's mad. I always associated a 28 year old person with adulthoodie type grown-upness! But I'm none of them things, and less. Well, to be fair now, I do have my moments. ...of maturity. Do ya think I'm losing sleep because maybe, subconsciously I want to prolong my days and keep the figure 30 a bay for a while longer? I donno, I doubt it... I'll be totally honest, the age thing doesn't intimidate me one bit, but it just feels strange when anyone asks how old I am, and I have to reply a figure, about ten years older than how I feel... Meh... anyways... I shall rant no further, and get on with this update melarkey! MUSIC NEWS Mahussive thank you to Josh Johnston. for accompanying me for a radio performance on MIDLANDS Radio GOLD. We covered Paul Brady's classic song 'The Island' followed by my own 'Plastic Palace' which really came across well on air. June Carley gave a great interview too, and I'm looking forward to hopefully meeting her in the near future at her new office, with Mid 103FM Radio. Thank you June, I really enjoyed our discussions, and don't hesitate the wear that album out on your new radio show! *plug plug* I've got plenty to spare, don't worry. I'll send some over... Hold up, in fact, scratch that... They're available right outside your building in 'The Hoops' shop in Market Square, for only 15euros!! It'll give you an excuse to get out of your over-heated studio for some fresh air! haha Another enjoyable gig last night, this time in the 'Mid-Way Park Hotel' in Daingean. Well done and thank you Mr. Mark Conway, my right-hand man! We were on feckin fire! (if i do say so myself) lol Only kidding, but when the crowd are having fun, and we're nailing our performances, it feels like nothing can go wrong. It's an amazing feeling... this thing called "rock n roll"!!! ;o) Also, well done Thos Faye for gettin up and singin some tuunes! You've a great voice, very unique and cultured! Looking forward to seing you live in the near future dude! I want to extend my best wishes to my cousin Stephen Carey and Debby Sheeran, the new proprioters of the hotel. I hope you both have a very successful and stress free time in the future, and thank you both for inviting me over to play! Twas a brilliant night, and the sing-song and drinkin till 7 the next morning capped it off perfectly! Looking forward to getting back there for some ceol agus craic! (Lets not even mention the stairs incident! haha... Some laugh!) This week I'll be doing an interview with South-East Radio, highlighting the importance of Road Safety, especially over the Christmas season, and I'll be pluggin the backside off my music too, with Jim Keily I think his name is, and I think the radio frequency is 95.6fm. Not 100% sure... I should really confirm that shouldn't I. ...so as soon as I get the exact details and times to tune in, I'll update this site accordingly. This coming Friday we'll be supporting Cork's own 'Armoured Bear' in Birr, Theatre & Arts Centre, Co. Offaly. Really excited and looking forward to that! I hear they pack in a good audience, so I hope I'll be physically up for it on the night! I was also invited to perform on 'Balcony TV' a web-based broadcasting show for all signed and independent acts, but alas, they didn't realise I was wheelchair-RIDDEN, and have now notified me that they're studio/balcony is inaccessible. Nevermind... As the fella says, "yill have that!" Okie dokie, hokey pokey, that's about all my gossip... and alas I've come to the end of my blogcast for another few days... or longer... who knows! I might eventually fall into a deep sleep, and forget to wake up for a few weeks! That'd be kool... once I wake up in time for Christmas of course!!! Ouuu... I almost forgot to mention... my single 'Breakdown' has finally been knocked off the number 1 spot on the download charts at www.outersounds.ie after spending almost six weeks in poll position! ...but it has climbed to number 6 in their all-time top sellers chart! Bloody marvellous news! Thank you EVERRRRRRYONE who supported the song, and helped me raise plenty of spondulies for Suicide Prevention Programs and Support Networks in Ireland. Alrighty then, enuff of this typeage, and time to put this feckin computer to sleep... hibernation even! One more thing b4 I go... thank you everyone for the birthday cards and gifts! Really appreciate it!! BBS Paddy Posted by Paddy Slattery on 27 November 2006 at 00:49 |
| I've traded spasms for JAZZims! |
Hello once again... Aint time sure flyin, and although christmas is almost at our doorsteps, it still kinda feels like the summer's barely over! Perhaps that's because I’m usually cooped up in this room I call 'my office' and it gets every minute of the sun when it decides to make a guest appearance in our day. So it manages to restore my sense of summertime when I'm being blinded by it while typing on this computer. I gotta say tho... I'm really starting to get the Christmas fever and cannot wait for the festivities to start! Last year I was so preoccupied with the recording of the album, amongst other things so I didn't allow myself to enjoy the holiday season so much, but I'm a big kid at heart and this is my favourite time of year! I really hope it snows too! That would be awesome! haha... Ok I should really stop rambling on about Christmas, it's only mid November! Anyways, back to the real reason I'm here... 'Breakdown' The debut single of my album maintains it's successful run at Outersounds and remains in the number 1 download position for the complete first month of its release! MEGA-AWESOME news! People are STILL constantly buying it, which leaves a nice warm fuzzy feeling in my tummy! Like a tickly sensation in the pit of your stomach after driving over a bridge at high speed! Kinda feeling... In other words, I'm delighted with myself, and long may it continue! ;o) If you've just stumbled across this blog, and you'd like to hear the song or download it for 0.99c I must re-iterate that all the proceeds are going to Suicide Prevention Programs in Ireland, which will be confirmed and presented over the coming months! This is the link that will take you to the online store www.outersounds.ie Music News Myself and Mark Conway did an accoustic gig Sunday in De Bruins in Tullamore, which went down great! So good in fact that they want us back for 8 more gigs over the next year!! The bouncers were getting restless tho and asking us to wrap it up because our encores were dragging on a bit and the bar staff were anxious to clean up and go home, so to please them, and the audience, we promised to do just one more song before we packed it up! Of course the crowd were pleased when I introduced a song by David Gray called 'Say Hello Wave Goodbye' which lasts about 12 minutes with the version we do! haha... With every verse I sang, I was watching the bouncer become more agitated, which also gave me that warm fuzzy feeling in my tummy! I'm sure he'll be very pleased to hear we'll be back there soon! ;o) I've also been to a Jazz/Blues gig that my friend Josh Johnston (www.davidandjosh.com) was performing in The Moat Theatre in Naas Co. Kildare. I never was a fan of this style of music and atmosphere but I have to say, with the combination of a raw wireless sound from the piano, violin, double bass and Spanish guitar accompanied by a dash of Josh's storytelling humour between compositions, I have to say, it was a really enjoyable night! I never thought I could enjoy Jazz music! Damn, I must be getting old!! Well done Josh, and thank you for paying for my tickets too! ;o) I'm such a cheap skate... This coming Friday 17th at 4pm on Midlands GOLD radio, myself and Josh will be performing some songs live on air, with an interview, so please tune in if you get the chance! Should be fun! ....if I don't start croaking like I did on 98fm! *shudders* ART News My uncle Colin has just uploaded his masterpieces on myspace, and will be exhibiting his work over the coming days at various exhibitions, so if you're an art lover like myself, you should check out this amazing imagery and see what you think! www.myspace.com/seabawn You will also find a link there to Roesy's myspace, who is also exhibiting his own artwork. Very impressive stuff to say the least! I guess that's about all the goss I have to report for now... Quite a laid back kinda time I'm havin the last few weeks, but shur I might as well... Time to take things easy, and keep on the healthy side for a bit. I realised over the last few months after the album launch I was burnt out mentally and physically, so I'm making it my business to be on top form for a Propa Chrimbo! Before I head on, I wanna say a massive thanks to David Power for a fantastic portrayal of my story in the Tribune Newspaper this week too! I think a lot of the emails the last few days and support at our latest gig was down to that positive publicity! I'll upload the article over the coming days so I can show it off to the rest of the world! Adios amigos, BBS, Paddy Posted by Paddy Slattery on 15 November 2006 at 13:01 |
| November Rain! |
...or lack of, more like! Hey there... It's been a while... And what a beautiful start to one of my favourite months of the year! Sun's been shining gloriously nonstop, and every night the sky comes alive with an almost full moon and a gazillion sparkly stars! Shur where would ya get it! I'm actually listening, for the very first time, to Damien Rice's new album '9' as I type out this blog, and already I'm taken away to a beautiful, and peaceful place in my mind! Quite an amazing style and rawness that's unbelievably rare and so delicate I'm just inspired to lay down and close my eyes and forget the world for a bit! The man's a genius, in a business where the word genius is under-rated and over-used, so thank you Damien once again for a job brilliantly done! Ok, it's been a while since I've had a rant on this blog, so I guess I should offload sum thoughts and experiences I've had over the last week or so... Firstly I want to start off by saying, on a personal note, that our thoughts and prayers are with my cousin Michael! He's showing amazing strength and will to survive and he's been an amazing inspiration to myself and all our families for a very long time! Thank you Michael, and please god you will come through the other end as you have before. This week Ive been completing a course in Portlaoise organized by ASIST (Applied Suicide Intervention Skills Training) and hosted by Rita Kelly and Karl Reiley. It was the most intense couple of day's education I think I've ever sat through. My brother Thomas also graduated with me, and thoroughly enjoyed the eye-opening experience. We are now officially "Qualified Care-givers for People at risk of Suicide" I guess that's a great skill to have, but we never really hope to imagine ourselves in this situation where we need to apply them skills in the first place. Life can be very unpredictable of course, and preparation is a vital tool in any regard. Speaking of suicide intervention, I'm also proud to announce that my debut single 'Breakdown' remains in the Number 1 position on the download chart at www.outersounds.ie for the third week running, and is raising loads of cash for organizations like the one mentioned above! So, AGAIN, thank you everyone that's been showing your support, and spreading the word!!!! Unfortunately I didn't get in early enough for tickets to the Marie Keating Foundation Ball this year to offer my support to Steph Barson, and others who've been doing extraordinary work to raise money and awareness for a great cause, but my thoughts and best wishes are with you guys tonight! Enjoy the good old Irish hospitality, and drink one for me! Myself and my mates have been doing some traveling over the last couple of weeks, between road trips to London, and crazy nights out in Galway City, so I'm happy to say I've been purposely taking things easy for a while, and trying to get my own health back in order. Cedric Chu (illustrator of the fine artwork you see on my cd's) has been giving me great medical advice, because of course, amongst his many other talents he's also a Doctor, so I'm relieved to say, since my last medical procedure I've been feeling great since. More refreshed and energetic... Which helps, leading into a potentially cold winter! Thank you Ced! www.cedavril.com Halloween has just past, and we had a cracking good party for all our nieces and nephews and kids with a bomb fire and fireworks display! Me being the biggest kid there!... but I love that sense of communal celebration and I think it's our duty to uphold the very few traditions we have. I didn't break out the costume this year, and my nephew David cheekily suggested I go as Andy from 'Little Britain' but maybe next year, when my belly gets big enough! ;o) I also think fireworks should be legalized, and controlled in a responsible manner, rather than the law tell us we haven't the capacity to be responsible adults! Do they not understand that this creates the opportunity for illegal distribution and exploitation of its selective availability by selling them on the street corners to "irresponsible" kids for ridiculous prices!? I think it's time for our government to cop themselves on a bit... It just pisses me off to see our country being foolishly lead into believing our every independent and conscious thought should be controlled in a westernized, consumerist, capitalistic Nanny State fashion. (Just a brief rant there...don't mind me) haha... ANNYWHO... On the music side of matters, I've got a couple of gigs coming up in the coming weeks with my right-hand man Mark Conway, and a few dates yet to be confirmed, so please check out the GIGS section for further info. Look out for an article in next weeks Tullamore Tribune, and a radio interview on Midlands GOLD. And feel free to leave any comments on the forum, in relation to my blogs, or just random or personal thoughts you wish to share with others! "its good to talk" lol... and no, I'm not trying to sell mobile fones here! ;o) In fact, it's good to switch your fcukin fone off and throw it in the corner once in a while, which is what I've done for the evening! Right, I'm gonna spoil myself with an Indian meal, a good DVD and a bit of star gazing in my backyard later, so enjoy your weekend, and chat soon.......... Paddy xx ps- I've set up a myspace music page if anyone wants to hear some of my tuuunes... www.myspace.com/paddyslatterymusic and in the near future I might convert my other page www.myspace.com/paddyslattery into a place dedicated to other personal endeavors like my upcoming documentary, book or future projects! | And the beat goes on.......... |
Howdy folks... I've not updated my blog as I promised, so I better sit my ass down and spill some beans on whats been goin on the last week. Great news on the music front! 'Breakdown' was the biggest seller on its first week of release on www.outersounds.ie and remains in the #1 position, so thank you EVERY single one of you who have downloaded it, and shown your support! That's an amazing feat, and long may our success continue! For anyone that's not had the opportunity to visit that website, please do... The money is going towards a great cause, and the song is pretty feckin good too, if I do say so myself! ;o) Vibe Distributions are finally coming good, and are making sure the single is available in major record shops as soon as possible! (before this Friday I hope) So, with a bit of luck, and intrest from radio stations, this song might actually find it's way to the Charts afterall. My mates have also been having an intresting few days in the music business, with Mark Conway having launched his band Murdock's debut album titled 'May God Have Mercy On Us All' (info at http://www.myspace.com/murdockmetal ) But don't be fooled by the title people, it's not gospel or christian rock! haha... It's actually pretty class death metal music that'll have you screaming the album title from the top of your lungs after one listen! Congratulations lads on a successful launch! Also, well done to my good mate Josh Johnston who was performing 'Is this the way to Amerilo' live on Today FM with Tony Christie himself! Nice one! I was just rockin out to that tune in a club in London over the weekend! Speaking of which, I wanna say big up to Kayle, Lauren, Shannon and James for showing my friends and I a great time in London! Looking forward to returning the favour in Sligo this November! ;o) Health News I'm back in Hospital tomorrow for a flexiscope and "stuff" that will hopefully sort out my recurring kidney infections! Let's hope they don't discover any stones, or I'll be facing certain pain and lazer treatment to zap them away! The last time I had that done they accidently ruptured my bladder and I hemorrhaged two pints of blood and ended up in hospital for a month afterwards! Not fun! Actually, here's a funny little story... I was at home, when I noticed I was passing pure blood from my bladder, and was feeling weak and fainting, so we called the ambulance... Well, as the ambulance was rushing out to get me, a woman (who is known for her mad antics) saw it coming through her town, and decided to throw herself into the canal as a desperated cry for attention, so they had to rescue her first, return to the hospital, then come back for me afterwards! Hmmm... Anyways, I guess I'm keepin my fingers crossed that all goes well. I'm slowly but surly getting back into a healthier regime tho, so with some persistance, I'll have myself back in shape and capable of doing gigs without wrecking myself too much! Well, there's the goss... Kind of a mad weekend, but all is good and Long may it last! Chat laters, Paddy Posted by paddy slattery on 24 October 2006 at 11:54 |

In other words, www.outersounds.ie is where its at! Yep folks, 'Breakdown' the single is OUT NOW and available for download so please please please drop in and download the single in mp3 format and upload my koolness to your i-pods and get ready to break down to the fresh new sounds on the town from the clown with the frown!! It's time to spread the word, as far and wide as the wind can carry our voices. Let's make a difference people... It's not going to be possible unless everyone pulls together on this project! Without the support of the record distributors and the national radio stations it's going to be tough, but I'm confident the song is good enough to make an impression in Irelands mainstream music scene! All it needs is one foot in the door, and in order to do that I need as many people as possible to purchase the song for 99c on www.outersounds.ie Is this a begging letter? Yes it is... A shameless undignified plea! To all my family, friends, and guests of this site to be a part of something special. To raise awareness not just for Suicide Prevention Programs, and not just for "Disability" awareness, but for the promotion of personal well being and mental health and acceptability in general. Oh, and then there's the music! It's also a time to celebrate honest to goodness music, and I think this falls into that category! It's time to bring music with REAL meaning and soul to the forefront of the music industry, and not tucked away behind mountains of manufactured muck and multi-managed marketability. See, this is not just a song. Nor is it about being the next "ROCK STAR" as the Sunday World Magazine have put it! It's something more than that... I just hope this opportunity doesn't pass us by. I know I'm grabbing it with both hands, because that's what life is all about!! Once again thank you everyone for your support! Paddy ps- I'll fill my blog with juicy goss in a few days time, right now I'm gonna chill out, de-stress after a mad week, and just keep my fingers and toes crossed that this single does well. Massive Shout-Outs Thank you Mark Conway (strings), Josh Johnston (keys), Elton Mulally (bass) and Cormac Dunne (drums) for a great set, and I hope I'm fortunate enough to join you guys on stage again in the near future! Wayne Brennan, thank you for supporting us with your remarkable music and unique style. Connor Dillan on sound. Nice job dude! DJ Kev, you rock, as always! Pat Dunne (The Rugby Club Tullamore) Thank you for your hospitality! Ger Rogers Donal Keys. Thanks for Thursday, and we missed you on Friday! (stage fright?) ;o) And also, thank you everyone for your support on both nights, and I look forward to putting on a show for you guys again soon. | Its Make or Break! ...down. |
Friday 13th is drawing ever closer, and my level of excitement is climbing higher! ...(along with my bloodpresure I might add) I'm not so much nervous about weather the single does well in sales figures, because the writings on the wall in that regard if you ask me, when you take cd availibility and promotion into consideration. The main thing for me is that this song raises awareness for Suicide Provention Programs in Ireland, and also gains respect and admiration as far and wide as possible, but most of the time, recognition doesn't necessarily translate into record sales. So, in all honesty, I don't expect to be having U2 quaking in their boots just yet... The thing that's got me losing sleep is the launch gig... as always! I'm really looking forward to playing with a full band, of this quality. It's going to be an honour to do a set with such experienced professional and extremely talented musicians! And THAT'S why I'm bricking it! I've got to be on form!! If I drag my heels, then I'll look totally out of my depth... Ah... We'll see how it goes, I'm gonna try not to stress too much about it. I also hope we pull in a crowd so please please please, if any of you reading this are up for a good night, don't hesitate to drop in!! (see GIGS for the juicy details) Last night's gig in Loughrey's Bar & Restraunt in Tullamore went really well! We were so shiit hot even the fire alarm went off! haha...Well, not really, but there was a bit of a mad moment actually. The whole place emptied when the smoke alarm was set off, and noone could turn it off, so as we were setting up our gear to play, the crowd were leaving in a bad humour! What a way to start the night! (And what the hell is it with us and fire alarms latly!?) Eventually people started turning up, and we hit the stage, and got our grove on! Myself and Mark Conway were so wrecked before the gig, but somehow we managed to do almost 3 hours of a set! I swear, it was brilliant craic... The crowd wouldn't let us off stage! I think we did about 7 encores, literally! And Mark broke out some of his James Taylor tunes, which was a rare treat, and he executed them with perfection. I think last night was by far our best performance. It's amazing how your energy levels rise and fall like that... During our set at different stages both Mark and I felt like collapsing with exaustion, but afterwards we were on such a buzz that we stayed up till 6 this morning talking, and "rehydrating" ;o) Hah... ah.... rock n roll baby! Music News Monday 9th October - 98fm 'Late Night Talk Show' Live and Unplugged Tune in at 11pm (We're expected to play at 11.15pm aprox.) .Vibe Distributions www.vibe.ie are going to support this single and hopefully have the cd on shelves in good Record Stores before Friday 13th (Fingers crossed) So, as soon as I get word on locations, I'll post them up immediately Outersounds www.outersounds.ie have made me featured artist on their website and since all proceeds are going to Suicide Prevention Programs, they have kindly donated their services for free! So massive thanks to them, and please get downloading when the mp3 is available on friday! Health News Doctor say's I don't have hiatas hernia afterall, which is great news! But after almost choking me to death with a big Stanley Kubric style camera down my throat, he did discover a sensitive red spot on my intestine. So, gotta be on my best behavour and watch what I'm eating, with plenty of exercise to clear it up. *yawn* The local anesthetic he gave me didn't kick in till I was put back on the ward, so I was out for the count for a few hours, which was nice and relaxing! Anywho, thats the story... Busy week ahead of me, but It's all good, and I'm looking forward to taking a break afterwards! I haven't been on holiday this year yet, so might just take a wee trip somewhere... Stay tuned, Paddy Posted by paddy slattery on 07 October 2006 at 12:18 |
| News, glorious news............ |
..........Cheese, pudding and mustard!!! Hey Hey, Oliver with a twist! My eating habits of late have certainly been a case of "please sir.. can i have some more?", because you are now reading the words of a guy with acid reflux, and possible Hiatus Hernia, so yes, all them goodies, and more like them will be off my menu for a while till I sort out this little indegestion problem! I'm going into hospital monday morning for a gastro-scope thingy so fingers crossed this condition won't be permenant! Oh, by the way... for anyone that doesn't know what acid reflux is... It's heartburn multiplied by a thousand!! The reason I have NEWS so cunningly encorporated into the clever little blog title is because the last two days I've just been interviewed by the OFFALY TOPIC and SUNDAY WORLD newspapers!! And last night Dublins 98fm called and want me to do an acoustic set for an hour on their show next week!!! (see. NEWS.) Tis all a bit mad really, but fortunately for me, unfortunately for you guys, my mugshot might be popping up here and there over the next couple of weeks! I'm delighted with the media intrest, but without my friends connections I reckon I'd be lost. So special thank you to Tony Mccormack, Wanye Brennan, Willie Murray,Olga Aughey! ...and anyone else that's been tirelessly supporting me throughout! My plan over the coming days and weeks is to generate as much exposure as possible for the single 'Breakdown' but my main problem now is distribution of the cd! HEARTBEAT City have been great support, but I'll need to make it more widely available, so I might be clocking up a few miles on the paddy-wagon to insure that the disc is in as many shops as possible! Unfortunately RMG aren't intrested in doing what they're supposed to be doing, with an unknow artist! They've got their desired workload for the 4th quarter season, so that leaves poor old Stand and Deliver out in the cold! Oh well... I also need to extend a massive thank you to Josh Johnston and Roesy for the priceless ongoing advice! I'm really looking forward to the cd launch gig now because along with myself and Mark Conway (Guitars), we're going to be acompanied by Cormac Dunne (Drums), Elton Mullally (Bass) and Josh Johnston the man himself on keyboards! Who are usually Roesy's full band line-up! All extremely talented musicians, so I hope my songs and singing do their expertise justice on stage that night! I hope we get a good crowd, so please come along, will be a grrreat nights entertainment, which will be rounded off by a set from DJ KEV till late!! Also, if you want to check out the artwork for the new single, please visit www.cedavril.com and navigate your way through the ever adventurous website by Cedric Chu and Avril. Who is the artistic genius behind all my illustrations! Thank you once again Ced, and also for the expert medical advice the last few weeks! I'm sure theres other news I'm forgetting, but the website will be updated over the weekend, and as the news details come in I'll be posting them up here! BELOW IS THE PRESS RELEASE FOR THE UPCOMING SINGLE: ---------------------------------------------------- 'Breakdown' The first single to be taken from the debut album 'Stand and Deliver', produced by David Mccune and Graham Bolger in the 'Ventry' Studio, Co. Dublin, is due for release on Friday 13th of October 2006. The single also features the midlands radio hit 'My Road is Your Road' In Paddy's own words... ''With the single 'Breakdown', I wanted to write a song that reflects this situation... On the surface, you have a "happy-go-lucky" pop song, but underneath it's bright exterior, you'll realize within the lyrics that there's a darker more sullen emotion hidden away... And a lot of people from time to time wear this disguise, like a clown's face painting, to shield their true emotions from the world, until one day that mask cracks on the surface and falls away, revealing the true extent of depression locked inside! Hence the song coming to an abrupt stop! that catches us by surprise, just like our initial reactions when we discover a person close to us may have committed suicide. The words "I never seen that coming!" spring to mind? Yes, I understand suicide is a taboo subject, but it's an issue that is now reaching epidemic proportions in Ireland and across the world and is one of the leading causes of death in our country, especially amongst our youth! People who feel they're left with no other options in life, but we as a family or community are too caught up in the fast pace of todays society to stop and take notice! Run a search on Google if you want the shocking statistics! ...only if you have the time of course'' 'Breakdown' will be available to buy in all Heartbeat City Stores throughout the midlands and in other shops too. See 'Music' section for cd availability. (All proceeds will be donated to Suicide Prevention Programs, and Support Networks mentioned in this following link: http://www.oasis.gov.ie/death/counselling_and_support/suicide.html ) ------------------------------------------------- Also, check out my myspace... my oh my it's a mighty place, is myspace! www.myspace.com/paddyslattery Ok, enough ranting and raving... Will chat soon Paddy Posted by paddy slattery on 29 September 2006 at 10:00 |
| All hung over...All sung out! |
Sex, drugs and rock and roll.................... Well... without the sex! ....and obviously the drugs! Unless you count panadol... A great weekend I have to say...Today I sound like Macy Gray... Arghhh, no more rhymes please... my feckin brain is being chewed up with an obsession for melody!!! Fridays gig in 'Loughreys Bar & Restraunt' in Tullamore went well, and the owner wants us back whenever we're available! ...but some guy asked us to sing happy birthday between songs to his wife Rory, so we did, later to find out that her name was actually Noirin!!! D'OH! They didn't seem to mind, and probablly didn't even realise I made that mistake with my thick bogger accent... The session didn't end there tho... It was back to my cousin, Claire Slattery's 21st birthday party, which was mad craic, with barrells and barrells of free beer on tap! It was a cowboy themed night. We didn't crawl outta there till 6:30 the next morning, absolutly twisted drunk! I was completly wrecked, and wouldda cried if I had to sing another song! And I wasn't in bed two hours before I had to start preparing to get up and ready for a big gig that evening in Mullingar, for James Lowry's 30th birthday party! Oh man.... And I wonder then why my body's in the state it is today! Twas a brilliant evening tho, in the Mullingar Park Hotel, that started off a bit shakey to say the least! We weren't in the door five minutes before Mark 'The Brawler' Conway had to be practically pulled off the hotel function manager during a sound check! But in fairness to him, the manager was an absolute nutter, who even started with our sound engineer too, for no apparent reason! I couldn't believe what I was seing, and don't think I've ever witnessed such an act of unprofessionalism, in such a classy establishment. He was sent home, and our party was compensated with a stand-in female manager who was extremly accomidating! Such drama, and the party hadn't even started! To be honest, I found the whole situation hillarious, but I think I was still partially drunk from the night before! We did an accustic set for an hour, before a celtic/rock band called 'Cunla' (with a fada, but I can't seem to find the fada on this keyboard) ...took to the stage and rocked us out till 2:30am. We didn't get home till 5. Then I dragged myself out of bed Sunday to see my team Liverpool being whipped by Chelsea, which made me feel, on top of my other illness, sicker than I thought I could physically bare. Needless to say I'm going to be takin things easy for a while! The crazy thing is, I think I sang better Saturday night than I did in my whole life! Hmmm... Anywho... That was my weekend in a nutshell! I think if anyone mentions another birthday party to me in the next six months I'll throw up on the spot! Which reminds me, my best mate Quazzie's birthday is this wednesday and we're all going out on the town! I think it'll be Ballygowan's for me! ;o) I have to just come to terms with the fact that I'm a lightweight... I'm not able for this rock n roll lifestyle! haha. MUSIC NEWS A date has been set for the Single release of 'Breakdown' So please check out the news section for further details. I've now got to put all my effort into getting this track heard and promoted as far and wide as possible! So, depending on how things work out, I could pull a Jay Z stunt and claim I'm going to retire after this record, see if that pulls in any media intrest!! The website is due an update, so I'm going to show off my amazing Breakdown cd artwork this week, done by the equally amazing Cedric Chu. www.cedavril.com I think that's all the gossip for a while... Once again, thank you everyone for the kind words and comments on the album, and gigs. I'm happy you're enjoying what I'm doing. And happy birthday too! ...just incase! Also, massive thanks to: Tony Mohan - MidAtlanticDuplications Simon Daniels - 'Design for Life' Aiden Foley - 'Masterlabs' For your prefessional input and efficiency!
